Lanbi's Programs

Community Service Programs

LANBI's network of teachers, certified consultants on immigration matters, and athletic advisors will provide high-quality, comprehensive youth and immigration services, including counseling, advocacy and referrals to relevant health, social, education, and employment related services to youth, refugee and immigrant clients.

Adult and Family Literacy Initiative:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Classes

This initiative targets newly arrived adult, working-age immigrants living in East Orange and surrounding cities. The English as a Second Language (ESL) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes will enhance the language and social skills of adult students, including listening, speaking, reading, writing and math skills. These multifaceted skills provide adult students the ability to fully participate in their children’s education, apply for jobs, enter training programs and/or college, and receive orientation and civic instruction that help them adjust to life in New Jersey. Programs such as Job Readiness, Money Management, Civics, Family Literacy and Health Literacy will be integrated in staff-assisted curriculums designed to help students actualize and/or exceed their inherent individual abilities and learning standards.

The Technology Program is geared to bridging the technology gap. The courses will include resume writing, ESL and ABE audio, vocational English and math; assist clients with online job searches, etc…
